The Claimant was on duty when he approached the driver's side window of another vehicle. The Defendant revved his engine, put it into reverse and turned into the Claimant knocking him onto the bonnet. The Defendant then rammed another vehicle to escape and he made off from the scene.
The Claimant sustained injuries to his left knee and ligament damage to his ankle.
The Defendant was subsequently caught and was given a custodial sentence.
Caroline Phelan of Pattinson & Brewer Solicitors was instructed by the Police Federation to represent the Claimant. She successfully negotiated a settlement of £4,500. The Claimant thanked Caroline for her efforts in settling his claim and for getting him a good outcome. Caroline said that “the Defendant gave absolutely no consideration to the Claimant whatsoever. I am delighted that I was able to assist in recovering compensation for him.”
