James graduated from Leeds Metropolitan University in 2012 with a degree in Public Sector Management (BA Hons), and then went to the University of Law in York and in 2013 completed the Graduate Diploma in Law. He studied the LPC part-time at the University of Law in 2014/15, after successfully completing the LPC he went on to obtain a LL.M Legal Masters in Legal Practice.
He began working at a legal firm in York representing victims of motorcycle accidents in 2014, and joined the personal injury team at Pattinson & Brewer in January 2016.
As a relatively junior professional James soon began to successfully litigate disputed cases and saw first-hand the benefits of compensation.
“It’s a great feeling winning for our clients, money doesn’t necessary right a wrong, but knowing you have been compensated for something that was not your fault certainly eases matters.
I enjoyed the contentious nature of the work that personal injury and civil litigation brings so I opted to choose the subject as an elective whilst I continued to study on the LPC.
In my spare time James supports two vulnerable persons’ charities in York. SASH whose main aim is to prevent homelessness amongst under 25’s and CARECENT where he has volunteered since 2009 and helps all homeless, unemployed or disadvantaged members of the community.
He enjoys watching all kinds of sports, and says “if there’s live sport on TV then that’s that for the evening”.
