Like everyone else involved in this great Movement, I was deeply shocked and saddened this morning to hear of the untimely death of Bob Crow.

Bob was utterly committed to representing the interests of the members of the RMT, and he never shied away from difficult confrontations with employers, which often led to unfair personal attacks against him in the press and wider media.

Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, his friends and the thousands of working people he has represented throughout his time with the NUR and the RMT.

An Employment Tribunal has found the Civil Nuclear Constabulary guilty of discrimination against five officers who complained that due to their age and fitness, it was unsafe for them to be deployed as Authorised Firearm Officers (AFOs).

Charles Shone, Harry Shone, Morgan Tudor, Steven Collins and Peter Jones were police officers in their fifties at Capenhurst, Cheshire who argued that being moved to another site and conducting full time AFO duties was unsafe. (more…)
