Collaborative Law

If you would like to resolve disputes relating to children or financial matters without having to go to court, then Collaborative Law may be the right choice for you. Our family law specialists are friendly, knowledgeable and have a wealth of experience to guide you through the process and offer you practical advice every step of the way.

This approach is suitable for separating couples who want a non-confrontational way to resolve issues, while receiving support from a Collaborative Law expert at every meeting. The benefit of this approach is that both parties receive professional legal advice, but do not have to attend court to resolve the dispute. Both participants are expected to be truthful and respectful to the other party in order for this process to work successfully.

What to expect

Once you have instructed us as your solicitor, we can set up a four-way meeting with the other party and their solicitor, and talk you through what you want to achieve and what to expect. You will be required to sign a Participation Agreement during your first collaborative meeting, which details the terms of the process and confirms that neither party intends to take the dispute to court. Both parties will then have the opportunity to share their objectives for future meetings. The mutually agreed final outcome of the process will be drawn up into a legally binding contract.
