A driver from Hertfordshire, has received £5250.00 compensation after slipping at work and injuring his left knee. Unite the Union has secured the compensation for Simon Omer in association with specialist personal injury solicitors, Pattinson & Brewer.
Mr Omer works for Sainsburys as a HGV driver. In September 2004, he was descending from the cab of a shunter, when he slipped on the steps of the vehicle.
Mr Omer explains:-
“I fell forward on to my left leg. I heard a crunching noise. I went to the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Essex, where I was treated. I was unable to return to work until November. I struggled at work for about a year before my knee improved.
Pattinson & Brewer did all the hard work to make my case a success. I really appreciate their help”.
Representing Mr Omer, Marcus Weatherby from Pattinson & Brewer solicitors says:-
“The step in question should have been covered with anti-slip material. The metal step was smooth, slippery and hazardous. Had there been a non-slip surface, this accident would have been avoided”.
