Felicia Epstein

Solicitor

Felicia Epstein is a Solicitor in Pattinson & Brewer's leading Employment Department. Felicia has extensive experience acting for claimants in a wide selection of contentious employment law cases, including all types of disability and sex discrimination, in which she has a particular interest, constructive/unfair/wrongful dismissal, TUPE, and breach of contract. She is also experienced in acting for and advising on non-contentious matters.

Felicia advises on and has negotiated compromise agreements and terms of employment in a variety of industry sectors. Her experience covers several areas, with particular emphasis on facilities management workers in the cleaning sector. She has trained and supervised legal volunteers, including trainees from city law firms in disability and employment law.

Felicia has written extensively on a wide range of employment law issues. Her published articles include "Discrimination Claims and Employer’s Confidentiality" (Solicitors’ Journal, November 2006) and "Disclosure and Disability" (The MS Society Magazine, Spring 2005).

Felicia is a member of the Employment Law Association, the Industrial Law Society, the Discrimination Law Association, and DDARAP. Felicia was previously a solicitor at the Disability Law Service, where she drafted the Disability Law Service’s response to the Department of Work and Pensions’ consultation on "Guidance on matters to be taken into account in determining questions relating to the definition of disability", and editing the CLS guide on disability in areas of employment and education.

Felicia graduated with Distinction from the Inns of Court School of Law, and was the regional and national winner of the Law Society Client Interviewing Competition.

Before moving to the UK, Felicia was Director of Development and International Spokesperson for the Association for Civil Rights in Israel. At Brandeis University, she wrote her thesis, entitled "The Dilemma of Pregnancy: The Public/Private Dichotomy and the Question of Difference", on the subject of pregnancy discrimination

Felicia recently co-authored "Employment Law Practice: Strategies for
Success
", a book which was published by Sweet and Maxwell in September 2009.

When she is not working or writing Felicia enjoys lecturing on legal and literary texts, watching The West Wing, and hiking.
